How Madhuri Aggarwal scaled her startup from Rs 70,000 to Rs 32 lakh revenue in 2 years

Madhuri Aggarwal brings a wave of inspiration in fashion and art through “Weaves of Tradition”
Weaves of Tradition, a platform for promoting handloom, art, and craft from craftsmen and artisans across the country was founded in 2017 by Madhuri Aggarwal. It is an online portal for selling stuff like readymade garments, sarees, dress material, dupattas, woolens, stoles, handcrafted jewelry, and home linen. Weaves of Tradition allows its products to pass through several processes with a focus on upgrading the old stuff.
Madhuri Aggarwal, the founder of Weaves of Tradition, was an investment lawyer with a degree in MBA (marketing), which didn’t inspire her for some reason. “I was often questioned about my seriousness about pursuing a career in either field” Madhuri admitted. Madhuri claims that her mother, along with the handloom institutions, textile units, artisans and artisans all over India, were the sources of inspiration for this startup.
The website for this initiative launched back in 2018 was with a budget of Rs 70,000 and 50 products to support artisans and artists. And now the brand is focusing on introducing a collection of handbags.
This startup has a network of around 50 weavers, 16 hand block printers, and eight textile manufacturers. Weaves of Tradition sources the products. The products then undergo through processes like customization with embroidery, tassels, dyeing, printing, and pairing with other fabrics. Each of the product then undergoes checking for defects, stains, or any other issue. In the end, the product is passed for pricing, photography and then listed for sale.
The pricing depends on the quality of the fabric and the amount of duration taken for obtaining the resultant product. The products are available on the startup’s website as well as on Amazon with around 1,000 stock keeping units (SKUs).
With 250% per annum growth, this startup aims to generate Rs 10 crore annually in the next ten years. The startup’s vision is to create a business regarding art and fashion with addressing the requirements and sensibilities of both old and new products with a focus on providing the user with an eco-friendly and sustainable lifestyle brand.
